As the Sekelo team, we recently had the privilege of visiting the petroleum vessel Torm Beatrice while it was berthing to discharge at Island View, Durban, South Africa.

What might have seemed like just a site visit turned out to be a powerful learning and development experience. It deepened our understanding of petroleum logistics and reinforced our appreciation for the operational excellence required in this industry.

While on board, we witnessed the precision and teamwork that drives safe and efficient operations — from vessel crew and independent surveyors to the receiving shore team. Watching the sampling, product quality testing, and manifold alignment processes unfold reminded us of the critical role that coordination and discipline play in ensuring both safety and efficiency.

For us, the experience was not only about observing operations firsthand, but also about growing together as a team. Connecting theory to practice, sharpening our awareness of safety and reliability standards, and immersing ourselves in the vessel environment all added depth to our daily work at Sekelo.

We left the Torm Beatrice with renewed energy and insight, committed to applying these lessons in our work and carrying forward our belief in continuous learning, teamwork, and operational excellence.
