In celebration of Women’s Day and Women’s Month, Sekelo Oil Trading was honoured to attend the Thebe Ya Mosadi Women’s Month Celebration held at the Houghton Golf Club on 22 August, under the theme “Petal Power”.

It was a fun-filled day that blended inspiration with celebration. Guests of honour and an experienced panel shared powerful stories of navigating life as women and as professionals in corporate South Africa — a true reminder of resilience and strength.

As part of our commitment to giving back, each Sekelo staff member in attendance delivered carefully curated care packages to a women’s and girl’s shelter selected by Thebe Investments. We also took a moment to thank and celebrate our own staff (support team included) with bouquets of flowers — a small token of appreciation for their daily dedication in keeping Sekelo thriving. 💐

✨Fun Fact: Our very first General Manager, Matshediso Marota, was a panellist on the day. She has played a pivotal role in shaping Sekelo’s culture of excellence and ensuring our team is powered by a majority women talent.

At Sekelo, we recognise that while the struggles women faced on 9 August 1956 were different, the fight for equality continues in new forms. We remain intentional about building, empowering, and training women in corporate, so that every woman has the opportunity to rise.
