Sekelo

At Sekelo Oil Trading, we believe that sustainable business success goes hand-in-hand with creating meaningful impact in the communities we serve. As a proudly Black-owned and values-driven business, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of professionals by investing in youth skills development and economic empowerment.

Our dedication to transformation is powerfully expressed through our partnership with the Thebe Foundation Trust, where we contribute to programmes that uplift students and entrepreneurs through skills training, mentorship, and work-readiness initiatives. These efforts are not just about giving back—they are about shaping a future in which South Africa’s youth can thrive and lead.

Investing in Talent: Meet Whillmarischa Wilson

One of the bright young talents supported through this initiative is Whillmarischa Wilson, a driven and aspiring Chartered Accountant from the Northern Cape. Whillmarischa is currently completing a 12-month internship with Sekelo Oil Trading as a Finance Analyst Intern—a role that offers her not just a foothold in the professional world, but also valuable experience that complements her academic journey.

“Receiving an award shows that someone recognises your hard work and believes in your dreams as much as you do.” Whillmarischa Wilson

Whillmarischa is on a determined path toward completing her Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) next year, with the long-term goal of becoming a Registered Auditor (RA). Although she hadn’t initially considered this career, her strong performance in accounting during high school—and the profession’s potential for stability and impact—sparked a new passion.

At the recent Annual Thebe Skills Summit, her hard work and dedication were recognised when she received the Proactive Career Advancement Award.

Her advice to fellow young South Africans is both simple and powerful:

“Always give yourself the chance to try. Even if you fail at first, try again. Success often requires taking a leap of faith and persevering.”

Beyond Business: Creating a Legacy of Empowerment

Whillmarischa’s journey reflects Sekelo Oil Trading’s broader mission: to be a catalyst for economic inclusion and transformation. As part of Thebe Investment Corporation, Sekelo is grounded in a legacy of empowerment, shared prosperity, and nation-building.

Through initiatives like these, we’re not just fuelling vehicles—we’re fuelling futures. By opening doors for young people to gain skills, experience, and confidence, we’re helping to build a stronger, more inclusive economy—one opportunity at a time.
